This position is responsible for providing effective technical assistance/business advice to Colorado Enterprise Fund small business owners, as assigned.This technical assistance is to be communicated to our small business owners as helpful suggestions of an educational nature, emphasizing that the responsibility for all business decisions rests solely upon the business owner.The actions of those in this position must uphold and convey the goals and values of Colorado Enterprise Fund. Available as full-time, part-time, or contractor position.
Objectives of this Role
Provide business advice, also known as technical assistance, to CEF borrowers within the business practice areas assigned by the project manager or by loan officers.
Assess borrowers’ business progress using assessment tools provided (BPA), applying as much independent thinking and objectivity as possible to render accurate assessments.
Make first contact attempt for new borrowers for BPA interview within 3 business days after assignment.
Follow up with borrowers previously advised by means of email and phone calls; attempt every 6 months. As significant business needs may be discovered, request approval for additional services.
Recommend to borrowers, as appropriate, business tools in the CEF Tool Kit
Recommend to borrowers, as appropriate, services of Colorado Small Business Development Centers or other partners of CEF.
Recommend to borrowers other relevant resources, connecting borrowers to broader network of expertise and new marketing channels to improve borrower business success.
Limit hours worked to assigned hours; when significant business needs may be discovered requiring additional hours, request approval. Reported hours to be no more than assigned hours, in aggregate, as measured in BAS Activity Reports.
Document services provided, and time utilized, according to policies and procedures of CEF. Submit BAS Report within one month after close of project.
Support the manager in improving process for the group.
Assist fellow group members in performing their accountabilities.
Follow all policies and procedures assigned to this position.
Perform other accountabilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business or accountancy.

Ability to: Listen empathetically and constructively to business needs expressed by small business owners and staff; Convert business needs expressed into action plans, in a priority order to address the best next steps intended to accelerate the progress of the business; Communicate action plans according to requirements expressed in the summary statement for this position; Train and advise small business owners in the practice areas assigned; Effectively use Microsoft Office tools
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ten years business leadership in a management role or business ownership or five years as business consultant
Graduate degree in business management or finance is a plus
