The Community Loan Advisor generates loans to businesses that cannot qualify for bank loans, specifically those owned by minority, woman, veteran and immigrant entrepreneurs and those located in low to moderate income areas. The position involves marketing and outreach, sales, business development, financial analysis, coaching/technical assistance for clients, and collaboration with a variety of partners and applicants from a variety of backgrounds. Available as full-time, part-time, or contractor position.
Objectives of this Role
Generate loan volume through building relationships with community partner organizations, bankers, accountants and creative collaborations with small business support organizations., and directly with small business owners.
Develop new clients and partners through active marketing and outreach to build awareness for CEF’s lending products and business development services. Driven by the intent of creating positive economic impact in community through CEF’s mission.
Screen applications for fit with lending parameters
Perform preliminary loan underwriting analysis
Determine appropriate lending structure and fit with CEF programs
Represent CEF at industry events and informational forums
Prepare loan request narratives for Loan Review Committee, when applicable
Make periodic site visits to CEF borrower businesses and provide technical assistance
Identify and provide technical assistance, education and training needs of small business owners and connect with appropriate resources, internally or externally.
3-5 years commercial lending, business finance, documentation and/or operations experience in banking, paralegal, title company or other related industry, economic development; experience with SBA 7(a) loans is a positive factor.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance to potential and actual clients, able to analyze and reconcile business financial statements; sales and business cultivation skills; excellent time management and organizational skills; a commitment to CEF’s mission; ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
